I've seen many of these trash pumps and they never seem to have the lift when you're down 5+ foot underwater. The trash pump will not have enough pressure to get great suction. It will work but only about 2/3rd's at best of what a centrifugal pressure pump will do. The trade off in your favor is it will be easy to prime. None of the many makers of dredges ever use trash pumps, in spite of the fact that they are generally cheaper than the centrifugal types.
